In PCS, microcell is adopted to reduce the size and weight of mobile terminal. To accommodate the fast moving terminal, microcell/macrocell overlayed cell structure is also devised. As the cell size is reduced, the number of handover is likely to be increased. Thus, efficient channel allocation schemes and handover schemes are needed. We firstly develop several channel allocation schemes and handover schemes and confirm their performace using simulation.

Next, mobile multimedia simulator is developed to provide means for users to analyze the behavior of mobile multimedia networks without the expense of building a real network. The simulator is a tool that gives the user an in- teractive modeling envirenment with a graphical user interface. With this tool the user may analyze different network protocols, control parameters, structure of network.

In this way it is expected that the result of the study offers high quality service for users through the technology taken to develop suitable protocol which allows multimedia traffic in PCS structure and the qualitative evaluation of PCS service performance that makes use of simulator implemented.
